Leigh on Sea based Borough Limited has been awarded the top accolade in the Environmental Awareness category of the Southend District Business Awards 2006.
Award entries were judged on the company’s commitment to sound environmental practice as well as cost saving in the workplace, while showing a commitment to protect substantial resources for future generations.

Borough provided a strong entry detailing the significant steps it has taken in recent months to ensure its environmental credentials are adopted throughout the business. One big step is its recent achievement of the ISO14001 environmental standard as required by the terms of the Integrated Pollution, Prevention & Control (IPPC) permit granted during March 2005.
The Southend Business District Awards were presented at the official gala presentation evening at Cliffs Pavillion on Friday 13 October 2006. There to accept this award was David Brereton, Borough’s sales director and Grahame Marshall, Borough’s environmental administrator. David said: “We are delighted to accept this award in recognition of our personal commitment to protect the local environment.
“We have put a great deal of effort into raising our environmental practices and also putting into place a long-term environmental monitoring and development programme.
“From environmentally sound factory processes to recycling of factory and office products, we will continue to do our part to protect the environment.”
